Regulatory developments concerning PFAS

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, better known as PFAS, are currently the subject of increasing attention from European authorities. A major environmental and health issue, their regulatory framework is part of a dynamic of collective responsibility and industrial transition.
At MATISEC, we closely monitor these developments. They are an integral part of our approach: anticipating regulatory changes, ensuring the compliance of our products, and supporting our customers over the long term.
PFAS: what is the current regulatory situation?
In France,Article L.524-1 of the Environmental Code, derived from the law on the prevention of risks related to chemical substances, provides for a gradual ban on the marketing of products containing PFAS, in line with European guidelines.
However, technical textiles, which are essential for personal protection and industrial safety, are temporarily exempt until 2030. This transition period allows industrial players to continue to ensure high levels of protection while working on solutions for the future.
The MATISEC approach: rigor, transparency, anticipation
Aware of the challenges, MATISEC conducted an in-depth assessment of all its raw materials. The analyses carried out confirm a key point for our partners and customers:
Our materials are compliant and free of non-polymerized PFAS. Analyses have confirmed the absence of releasable PFAS in all samples tested.
Fluoropolymers (such as FEP or PTFE) are recognized by the OECD and ECHA as "polymers of low concern" and are currently excluded from the SVHC list published by ECHA.
MATISEC nevertheless remains attentive to developments in European and international regulations.
A long-term commitment to protection
Beyond compliance, MATISEC takes a proactive and responsible approach based on:
- continuous regulatory monitoring,
- regular checks,
- and, where relevant, the search for alternative solutions.
Our ambition is clear: to support our customers over the long term by offering them technical textiles that are high-performance, responsible, and aligned with future regulatory requirements.
Because protecting people should never come at the expense of health orthe environment, MATISEC continues to invest in anticipating developments and building tomorrow's solutions today .
